John Hill
|
|
John has been involved in Emergency Medical Services for almost 24 years and has been an EMS educator for more than 15 of those years. He currently holds the position of Director of Emergency Medical and Respiratory Therapy Services at Spencer Hospital in Spencer, Iowa. John is a Paramedic Specialist with Critical Care, Instructor, and evaluator endorsements. John has been actively involved in IEMSA since 1999 serving 3 years as the Vice President.
During his career, John has served in many capacities of leadership. For the Arnolds Park/ Okoboji Fire Department, he served as the EMS Captain as well as the Captain of the Okoboji Underwater Search and Rescue Team and remains a volunteer with the Department. John serves on a variety of local, state and regional organizations and associations. He is a Past President of the Clay County EMS Advisory Board.
He is currently a member of the Region 3 Disaster Medical Assistance Team and is an adjunct Instructor for The University of Nebraska and Iowa Lakes Community College, John continues to enjoy presenting at numerous regional, state and national EMS conferences.
John and his wife Sandy have 5 children and enjoy residing in the Iowa Great Lakes Area of Northwest Iowa.
John is truly honored to represent both Volunteer and Career providers as President of the Iowa EMS Association.

David Johnson

Mr. Johnson is the Captain and EMS Director for Mason City Fire Department. Dave holds a B.A. in Fire Department Administration as well as the following certifications: EMS-PS and BLS/ACLS Instructor. He is a 1985 EMT-P Graduate from the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics EMSLRC. Dave has been serving as an NC Region Representative on the IEMSA Board of Directors in the seat that was vacated by Tammy Snow.

Cheryl Blazek

Cheryl Blazek has been in EMS since 1987 and is an EMT-Paramedic. She is currently the EMS Training Program Director for Southwestern Community College. Prior to that she worked full time as an EMT for Greater Community Hosptial Ambulance.
A member of IEMSA for the past 4 years, Cheryl also is serving on the IEMSA conference planning committee. She is a member of NAEMSE and serves on their annual conference committee as well.

Linda Frederiksen

Linda was recently named the Executive Director at MEDIC EMS in Davenport, formerly serving as this agency’s Quality/Education Coordinator since 1995. A registered nurse and nationally registered paramedic, Linda has been involved in EMS in Iowa for 10 years, having been an active member of IEMSA for over 6 years. Linda was the original IEMSA representative for the state SEQIC Committee, and also serves as Iowa Regional Faculty for ACLS and PALS.

Jeff Dumermuth

Jeff is serving his 8th year on the IEMSA board, he is currently certified by the State of Iowa as a Paramedic Specialist, is a Licensed Practical Nurse and has a BA in Public Administration. Jeff currently works for the City of West Des Moines where he holds the position of EMS Chief. Jeff is also Director of West EMS a collaborative administrative arrangement between The City of West Des Moines and Dallas County.
Jeff and his wife Kathy have two sons, Kyle-17 and Jared-13. Jeff also serves as the volunteer nursing director for the Mae E. Davis Free Medical Clinic in West Des Moines and is a Board Member for Free Clinics of Iowa.

IEMSA Medical Director
Azeemuddin Ahmed, MD, FACEP

The IEMSA Board of Directors is pleased to announce Azeemuddin Ahmed, MD, FACEP has accepted the position as Medical Director. Dr Ahmed, a native of Bettendorf, currently serves as a Flight Physician and the Medical Director for the University of Iowa AirCare. In addition, he also serves as the Medical Director of the Emergency Medical Services Learning Resource Center in Iowa City. Dr Ahmed also serves as the Vice Chairman of the Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council (EMSAC) for the Bureau of EMS and also as the Chairman of the Air Medical Transport Sub-Committee of EMSAC.
Dr Ahmed attended Augustana College in Rock Island, IL for his undergraduate degree. He finished his M.D. at the University Of Iowa College Of Medicine. He completed an Emergency Medicine residency at the Michigan State-affiliated program at Spectrum Health-Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids, MI and is a board certified emergency medicine physician.
Dr Ahmed's past EMS experience includes 5 years as a volunteer firefighter/EMT on the Bettendorf Fire and Rescue Department, 3 years as a Flight Physician for Aero Med at Spectrum Health (Grand Rapids, MI), and 1 year as the Medical Director of the Newaygo County (MI) Medical Control Authority.
